Trust & transparency

Trust is the product.

Honesty and transparency are the whole point. No backdoor side deals, and information that comes straight from the source. Every horse on Quarter Pole is reviewed by a person before it appears. This page explains exactly what that review covers, and just as importantly, what it does not.

What we actually do

Every listing is reviewed.

Facebook groups, classifieds, and auction aggregators publish whatever is typed into them. Nothing on Quarter Pole reaches the marketplace without passing through a person first.

01Every listing

Human review before it goes live

A submitted horse does not appear in the marketplace. It enters a review queue, where a Quarter Pole administrator reads it before it is approved. Listings that look wrong never reach a buyer.

02Every seller

A signed attestation, on the record

Before a listing can be submitted, the seller must affirm three things: that they have the right to list the horse, that the information is accurate, and that the sale is legally compliant. It is timestamped and stored.

Where our responsibility ends

What a review is not.

The best venues in this sport are precise about the limits of what they warrant. Keeneland places radiographs and scope videos in its repository and states plainly that it does not review them, and that their accuracy is the consignor's responsibility. We hold the same line, for the same reason: a promise you cannot keep is worth less than a limit you state out loud.

Not vetted

We do not vet every person.

Sign-up is open. Quarter Pole does not run a background check, confirm a government ID, or independently confirm that a seller is the registered owner of record. Review is applied to the listing, not to the human being behind it.

Not warranted

We do not warrant the horse.

We do not inspect horses, examine them, or guarantee soundness, condition, title, or any statement a seller makes. Approval means a listing passed review. It is not an endorsement, an appraisal, or a guarantee.

Not a party

We are not in your deal.

Every transaction is arranged directly between buyer and seller, off the app. Quarter Pole is not a party to it, holds no funds, and is not liable for it. Nothing here is investment, veterinary, or legal advice.

Your move

Do your own homework.

Verify ownership with The Jockey Club. Have your own veterinarian examine the horse. Use a written bill of sale. Be extremely careful about who you send money to, and never wire funds to someone you have not verified.

Positioning

Curated, not open.

The great marketplaces for serious assets have always been curated. Quarter Pole continues the lineage, built for the digital era of the oldest sport there is.

The pillars

What you can count on.

People

Reputation on the record.

Every listing is attached to a named profile with every horse that person has listed. Nothing is anonymous, nothing is a throwaway post. Reputation follows the person, not the listing.

Horses

Data straight from the source.

Equibase pedigree, race record, and workouts imported directly from Equibase, never re-keyed by the seller. The numbers on a listing are the numbers on the chart. No spun race records.

Privacy

Private by design.

No phone numbers exposed. Encrypted in-app messaging. Notification previews show only “Sent N days ago,” never the message body. Your deals are your business.

Incentives

No commissions, ever.

Quarter Pole takes nothing from either side of a deal. It is free to use, with no hidden fees. We are not a broker and we do not hold funds, so our only incentive is a marketplace you can trust.

The market is moving. Move with it.

Quarter Pole is iOS-only. Open signup. Every listing reviewed before it appears.
